How is a legal document preparer
A certified legal document preparer helps you complete and organize important legal papers without offering legal advice or representation. They focus on making sure your documents are accurate, clear, and ready to use.
A lawyer, on the other hand, can provide legal advice, represent you in court, and handle complex legal issues. At Prep + Peony, as a Certified Legal Document Preparer, I guide you through the estate planning process with care and clarity, while keeping it affordable and accessible.

I honestly thought estate planning would be stressful and take weeks, but working with Nic at Prep + Peony was the exact opposite. She made everything so simple, so clear — and we got it all done in one day! We prepped it together, step by step, and I left feeling confident, protected, and honestly, really proud of myself for finally getting this taken care of. Nic brings so much warmth and clarity to something that usually feels overwhelming. I can’t recommend her enough — this is the kind of peace of mind everyone deserves.

We worked with Nic from Prep & Peony during a Prep It Together session, and in just a few hours, we accomplished something we’d been putting off for over three years — our full estate, will, and trust planning. What felt overwhelming for so long became simple, clear, and actually empowering. Nic made the entire experience seamless and stress-free. She had an answer to every question, knew exactly which box to check (and which to leave blank), and walked us through each step with so much confidence and compassion.

Nic is wonderful. She made me feel confident and not alone in this journey. She has provided a lot of great information and resources to better help me understand the importance of securing my son’s future! I enjoy the random check-ins from her too.

After my divorce, I knew I needed to update my estate plan to ensure everything was set up and protected for my two kids. Nic helped me navigate that process with so much care, professionalism, and clarity. She walked me through every step of setting up a new trust, making sure my children’s future was secure and that everything reflected my current wishes. It gave me real peace of mind during a time that could’ve felt overwhelming. I couldn’t be more grateful for her knowledge and the heart she puts into her work.

Legal document preparation is the process of creating legally valid documents based on information you provide, without offering legal advice or representation. As a Certified Legal Document Preparer in Arizona, I am authorized to prepare certain legal documents, explain the process, and ensure forms are completed accurately and correctly.
At Prep + Peony, legal document preparation means working with you one-on-one to thoughtfully prepare estate planning and related documents with clarity and care. I focus on education, organization, and collaboration so you understand what you’re signing and feel confident that your documents reflect your wishes and protect the people you love.
Working with an attorney typically involves receiving legal advice, legal interpretation, and representation, especially in complex or contested matters. Attorneys assess legal strategy, interpret laws, and advocate on your behalf when needed.
At Prep + Peony, this difference allows me to focus on education, collaboration, and clarity. I work with clients one-on-one to thoughtfully prepare estate planning documents in a supportive, approachable way, and I encourage involving an attorney whenever legal advice or advanced legal strategy is needed. For many families, this approach offers a practical, compassionate, and accessible path to getting their documents prepared correctly.
That depends on your situation. Legal document preparation is not a replacement for legal advice or representation, and some situations do require the guidance of an attorney, especially when legal interpretation, disputes, or complex legal strategies are involved.
At Prep + Peony, my role is to prepare documents, provide education, and help you move forward with clarity and confidence. When an attorney is needed, I believe in thoughtful collaboration and will encourage you to seek legal counsel so you are fully supported. Many families are well served through legal document preparation, while others benefit from a combined approach.
Yes. Legal document preparation is a legally recognized service in Arizona, with oversight from the Arizona Supreme Court and The NonLawyer Legal Service Providers . Certified Legal Document Preparers are authorized to prepare certain legal documents and assist the public under a regulated framework, provided they do not give legal advice or representation. It’s a trusted, legal way to get estate planning services in Arizona with accuracy, affordability and expert support along the way.
While not every state regulates the role in the same way, many states observe and recognize legal document preparation as a legitimate way for individuals and families to receive help preparing legal documents
At Prep + Peony, services are provided in compliance with Arizona’s requirements, with transparency about scope and a commitment to referring clients to an attorney whenever legal counsel is appropriate.
At Prep + Peony, I prepare a range of estate planning and related legal documents based on the information you provide. This commonly includes wills, trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives, guardianship-related documents, special needs trusts, and supporting planning documents.
Because legal document preparation does not include legal advice or representation, the specific documents prepared depend on your situation and needs. During our one-on-one Prep-It-Together process, we review your goals and determine which documents are appropriate to prepare, and I will always recommend consulting with an attorney if your situation requires legal advice or advanced legal strategy.
